Bhutto under House Arrest-

di   Ms Bhutto has recently been placed under house arrest ensuing the mass protests and police clashes surrounding her upcoming rally to ask for Pres Musharraf to “stand down” and allow for the January elections to be held unhindered.

Ms Bhutto further states, “we are calling for the revival of our constituion and respect for our judiciary”, as the PPP-Pakistan People’s Party is continually met with unwarranted arrests, police brutality, and banning of their efforts to organize and demonstrate their campaign efforts to restore more democratic rule vs the military crush under Pres Musharraf.

For the past several weeks, Pakistan has been witnessing suicide bombings and ongoing civil unrest with the celebrated return of exiled former PM Benazir Bhutto.  Thousands of people have been detained, and most recently Musharraf has placed a draconic “state of emergency”  issue which has only aggitated mass extremism further- does anyone else see the similarities of former clashes as experienced by Aung San Suu Kyi and the Burmese people, or am I the only one?
