On courage and resistence…

Not being able to fully entrench my mind within Ms Sontag’s words from “At the Same Time”, I can’t help but catch something that hits home for me these past eight months:

“Let’s start with risk. The risk of being punished. The risk of being isolated. The risk of being injured or killed, (okay, this does not apply), the risk of being scorned.”

“To fall out of step with one’s tribe; to step beyond one’s tribe into a world that is larger mentally but smaller numerically- if alienation or dissidence is not your habitual or gratifying posture, this is a complex, difficult process.” pg. 181

Indeed… it truly is, but what’s the alternative?
